We were lucky to stay in Avon just in the valley between Beaver Creek and Vail resorts. Lucky, because its such a convenient place to stay if you want access to both resorts which are on the same ski pass anyhow.
Over on the right side of the Beaver Creek resort are a series of runs that are a powder playground. They are the runs surrounding the Bachelor's Gulch Express Lift called Sawbuck, Gunder's, and Cabin Fever. I don't know why it is, maybe the wind continually blows the powder from the top of the mountain into that corner of the resort but playing on those lovely blues and greens made for another magnificent day.
Every year I celebrate the New Year by going snowboarding for a week. Its my favorite outdoor activity and I just wish I got to spend more time doing it.
Colorado has a special place in my heart, you really can't go wrong with the snow and the variety that exists in the Rockies. Not to mention the incredible snowland that is Vail and Beaver Creek where we spent this New Year's.
Beaver Creek's website proudly proclaims "Beaver Creek, not exactly roughing it." And they really couldn't say it any better.
Happy New Year! Sorry for the radio silence for the past week but I've been celebrating the New Year at Vail/Beaver Creek and snow wins out over blogging. As you can see from the picture above, its rather blissful here. I'll be back in London next week to tell you all about it.
